It is sad and painful to know that during bad times as in this pandemic and MCO times, the have nots and less fortunate will suffer most. Charities depend on donations and handouts. During good times, most people will extend a helping hand. When times are difficult and everyone is tightening their belts, Charity is reprioritised towards one’s needs/home instead of to others.

BeCause had to postpone a few Charity projects due to MCO restrictions which forbid any fund raising events involving crowds. One of them was the conducting of classes to educate parents in the B40 category on the importance of proper nutrition for their babies during the first 3 years. We would also source, supply and distribute the appropriate baby formula (based on UNICEF recommendations) to this group. We were planning to do it in collaboration with a similar undertaking by Prof. Dr Lucy Lum and her UM Paediatric Faculty staff.

Undaunted, our members made effort to attend one of their events just before the MCO came into force, to gain first-hand experience.

On 8 August 2020, together with the caretakers of BODHi Homecare, we succeeded in organising a limited baby food distribution and awareness day for the B40 folks in Kampung Ikan Emas, Cheras when the MCO was relaxed.
