Bodhi Homecare Cheras Stupa Project

In June 2016, BeCause members were invited to attend a Guan Yin holy day at Bodhi Homecare Cheras (“Bodhi Home”). Besides the usual making of offerings and seeking of blessings by devotees, friends and supporters of the centre, Bodhi Home also distributed ang pows to the less fortunate and needy who form the majority in the neighbourhood of Kampung Ikan Mas.

BeCause Charity Treasure Hunt 2015 – a roaring success!

That was a question many asked us before and on that day. The straightforward reply was easy because it coincided with Malaysia Day, a public holiday. A day which all Malaysians celebrate. What better way to do that than by taking part in a charity event with the theme: “Hunt with Fun & Purpose”!

NASAM 2015 Food & Fun Fair

This year’s NASAM 2015 Food & Fun Fair on 14th June started off on a rainy morning. Despite some delay in the setting up of the stalls due to the wet conditions and soggy ground, the crowd started coming in as early as 8am.

14 Help Institute college students wrote to BeCause to help them to fulfil their Study Skills volunteerism assignment. BeCause was happy to work out an appropriate program of activities for them so that they have a deeper feel for charity work.

How you can help Bodhi Homecare Cheras

Bodhi Homecare Cheras is a registered home, set up in 1989 to house and take care of handicapped and abandoned children (presently aged 8 onwards) as well as needy and some disabled old folks forsaken by their families. In total there are about 40 inmates.

Rumah Caring Kajang Needs Your Help!

We first visited Rumah Caring Kajang in January 2012, and had kept in touch with Wendy Yap the caretaker since then. We were made aware during that visit that the neighbours staying nearby were not happy with the operations of Rumah Caring Kajang, which caused difficulties in renewing their MBKJ license. It seems that things have come to a head, as we received recent news that Rumah Caring Kajang is now facing problems associated with having to relocate to another place.

Bodhi Homecare Cheras – A humble monk’s legacy

On Sunday 22nd March, 5 Because members visited the Bodhi Homecare Cheras for abandoned and underprivileged children. We were met by Ms Ng Ching Yuet. After a quick show around the place , we sat down in the kitchen area to hear Mr. Jim, one of the 7 temple committee member share with us the temple’s history going back to 1999 and how it had now turned into a local community care centre despite their struggles.
