Our First Public Shout Out!

BECAUSE set up a little booth in a little corner of the LG1 concourse of Sunway Pyramid, where a roadshow organised by Kechara was held.  The theme for this roadshow was “The Joy of Sharing“.  We thank Kechara and Sunway for having us as well as Kechara Children’s Class for loaning the chic bar tables and chairs to us =D

We are ready!

What was BECAUSE doing there? It was our first public volunteer recruitment drive! We spoke to a number of interested parties, including the secretary of the Lions Club Tropicana, a cool lady who teaches baking at the Butter & Olive Baking Academy, the Executive Director of The English House,  medical students from Cyberjaya University College Medical Science, loving parents who bring their children to visit orphanages, IT professionals, and other people who does charity on their own intiative.  We also got to know about 501st Legion who transform their members into Stormtroopers, Impirial Officers, TIE Pilots etc to help raise funds for non-profit organisations.  What a fun and innovative way to do charity based on interest in Star Wars!

It was a very encouraging weekend to meet with like minded people who want to do more and care for the less fortunate!  We are definitely looking forward to collaborating with these people to promote the culture of virtue. With the help of our volunteers, Ming Huiy, Adelin Yong, Eric Lian and Zoey Mah, 30 new members had signed up with BECAUSE!

BECAUSE was also lucky enough to have kind sponsors, FnD Mindspot and Doof Industries to loan us their medium giant Jengga set and colorful and addictively comfy Doofbags over the 3-day event.  The public certainly enjoyed themselves playing with the games and just veging on the Doofbags! We thank Hakim Albaswary for kindly introducing us to our 2 main sponsors.

We also would like to thank our talented performers, Ming Huiy, Vanessa Lim, Kai Cong, Chris Seah, Edward Chia from Magic-i, and Bantus Capoeira Malaysia for putting up a great show for the public’s enjoyment.

Bantus Capoeira Malaysia does their thing, no ifs and buts

Besides having a good time and putting on a good show and making good friends, what did we learn from this 3-day marathon?  We learnt that…

There are many kind hearted people who want to do charity BUT:

  1. Don’t know how to do charity work
  2. Don’t know where to do charity work
  3. Don’t have kaki to do charity work with
  4. Don’t have enough time to do charity work

Because would like to create a platform to fulfill the wish of this group of charitable people while addressing the above challenges.

HOW?
